Garage Band File mis-behaving

Hello,

Hankfan has just posted in the Logic 9 forum of Logic Users Group under the title of Garage Band File mis-behaving.

Intel MacBook Pro. Snow Leopard. 10.6.4 Logic Express 9.1.1
Apogee 'One'

I imported a file from Garage Band. Connected my electronic piano with the midi in/out chord. Record-enabled a track using the Logic piano sound.
Here's what happens when I click 'record' .. the playhead jumps to the final bar, and the bar grid turns transparent red.
It's supposed to start the metronome and begin recording ...
what's happening?
