Post by Chris HillerySounds great, but am I wrong to say that the BM6A's appear to cost
at least twice as much as any of the others on that list, three
times as much as many?
Which of these cost under, say, $1200/pr MSRP? Which of those would
you say is "the best"? How about under $800?
At the time of evaluation (autumn '97), ATC, Genelec 1031A, KRK, PMC,
Quested and Tannoy were more expensive than Dynaudio in Japan. It is about
$2300/pr MSRP in Japan now (it was much more expensive then).
Event was under, and Sony was circa $1200/pr MSRP (in Japan). Spirit (a
bit more expensive) and Sony (now SMS-2P RS) were pretty good. The only
monitor under $800 was Event, which sounded a bit too bright to my ears.
Post by Chris HilleryHello,
I can tell you that the Dynaudio BM6A are not as expensive as you think. They
cost even less than the Genelec 1031A (at least in Europe).
But I'm still not shure if it's good to mix with such great sounding
monitors, because what I want is to hear the problems in a mix , so I don't
need a system that sweetens (?!? does this word exist?) a mistake.
Yes, monitors must present bad sound as bad, good sound as good, great
sound as great. Dynaudio was so good at this task. On the other hand, we
are creating music, so when music and sound are really good, I believe
monitors must give us great joy to listen to. Dynaudio's sound was so
sweet, dynamic and "musical".
